Expedia launches Spring Sale

Whilst many business travellers will look to book direct with the airlines and hotel chains in order to get their loyalty miles or points, or else will be pushed to use the chosen corporate travel agency, there are still good reasons to use online travel services such as Expedia.

One of the most common situations I find myself in is having to book short trips across the Atlantic to the USA, often at the last moment. That travel pattern tends to make airfares extremely pricey, in the region of £1,200-1,500 for an economy LHR-JFK fare for example. On such occasions, I’ve found that booking flights and hotel as a package via Expedia makes the overall cost cheaper than just the flights when booked direct with the airline (e.g. LHR-JFK return with BA, plus 5 nights at The Pod Hotel for just ~£800 when the same return flight was going to cost £1,200+). Even better, BA honoured the Executive Club Avios points too.

So back to the reason for the post, Expedia have just launched their Spring Sale:

There’s attractive offers available in the following cities (New York, Las Vegas, Los Angeles, San Francisco, Orlando, Paris, Rome, Amsterdam, Berlin, Barcelona, Dubai, Prague, Venice, Istanbul, Lisbon, Madrid, Munich, Edinburgh, Dublin, Glasgow, Manchester), with a mix of reasonable to upmarket hotels.

At the low end, this seemed a great deal for some Spring sun… Flights plus 5 nights at the Liki Tiki Village resort in Orlando for just £604

(inclusive flights are with Delta, via Detroit outbound and via JFK on the way back – other options are available).

I’ve previously stayed at the Ballsbridge Hotel in Dublin and really liked the place – good service and nice surroundings. 4 nights and flights for £147.

There’s plenty of offers available – take a look!
