Briggs & Riley launches new Baseline ‘Navy Special Edition’ range

The Baseline range has been one of the most popular and iconic elements of Briggs & Riley's portfolio for a number of years with a good mix of innovative features, versatile pieces that work well in combination, plus all with the timeless look and feel that you'd expect from such a well respected brand. The company yesterday (5th October) announced a new colour option to go alongside the long-time favourites of black and olive, a very attractive navy limited edition...

Club Carlson Work Hard, Play Hard: Up to triple points on all stays

You'll likely know by now that I'm quite a fan of the Carlson Rezidor group of hotels and their Club Carlson loyalty scheme. They have a good range of price points across the group (including the Radisson Blu, Radisson, Park Plaza and Park Inn brands), cover the majority of Europe and the USA, and run regular promotions that make stays worthwhile. I particularly enjoy their Radisson Blu brand, and tend to stay in their property in Prague on an annual basis. At present, they are running an excellent promotion that I thought was worth...

Heathrow Airport First Flight video 2016

Heathrow: The First Flight

Given London Heathrow's dominance of the UK market, I'm not sure that that airport has any real need to advertise. However, there's a first time for everything: For 70 years we have been the first step on your journeys into the world, and the warm welcome home when you return. To mark this momentous occasion, we have launched our first ever television advert, 'First Flight'. Explore the airport through the eyes of a child venturing on their first journey, and rediscover the magic of flight. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lMaV1VBnDr0...

Priority Pass adds new landside lounge in Heathrow T5 – Club Millesime at the Sofitel

It's always good to hear that the lounge services like Priority Pass are adding new properties to their portfolio. As you probably know, Priority Pass access is included with the American Express Platinum card in most geographies, as well as offering a range of direct subscription options. Whilst the Priority Pass service has always been strong in terms of airside options (including the new-ish Aspire lounge and spa in LHR T5), the list of possibilities for landside access has been somewhat limited. It's good to see this changing over time,...

InterContinental jumps into the direct booking wars

InterContinental Hotels Group (IHG) has just officially joined its fellow hotel competitors in the direct booking wars against the online travel agencies. On May 3, the company announced the global roll out of an exclusive IHG Rewards Club member rate for booking direct, similar to what Marriott, Hilton, and Hyatt have recently announced for their own respective loyalty members. The new members-only direct booking rate, called Your Rate by IHG Rewards Club, launches in May in Europe and the Americas, and will be promoted as part of major brand campaigns in both regions. IHG didn’t...

The rise of carry-on flight food as options for those travelling from Heathrow T5

In recent times two well-known British brands have both launched options for those flying in economy but wishing to eat well whilst on their flights. First to launch back in late-2014 was Gordon Ramsay's Plane Food, with their range of onboard picnics: When you're travelling, you may be strapped for time and in a rush to catch your flight, but that doesn't mean you should have to miss out on enjoying a tasty meal. Pick up a Plane Food Picnic as you pass through Heathrow Airport's Terminal 5, and you'll be able to...

BA extra £100 off holidays

Receive an extra £100 off British Airways holidays in the New Year sale – book by 12th January 2016

The BA New Year sale is not a bad promotion, with some good savings across the board - both on standalone flights (in all classes) and on holidays (which BA defines as a bundle of flights and hotel, car hire or both). The sale runs through until 2nd February 2016, with trips needing to be taken by a variety of dates later in 2016 (the Ts & Cs are quite complex and vary by offering and destination). BA don't like to make this stuff easy! However, news has reached me that BA is...
